My dog has hit her heat cycle, can it give her diarrhea?

This is my female german shepherd's 1st heat cycle. It has been going on for about a week. Then all of the sudden today, she has had horrible diarrhea. Not to be frank or gross, but it pours out of her like liquid. It has happened twice today. However, she seems to be acting normal with the exception to the diarrhea. Is it a normal symptom perhaps?
Also, her and my male are use to being with each other 24/7. However, since this has started, we have had to separate them until her cycle is complete. Would this cause her to be stressed and depressed? Maybe that is why she has this awful diarrhea???? Just a thought... any input would be much appreciated.

You know I have a female German shepherd and the same thing happened to her. She has only had one heat so far and during it she had diarrhea too - I don't think it was total liquid like you were saying though. I remember wondering though "Is this normal?" We hadn't changed her diet and at the time we didn't have any other dogs so she didn't need to be separated or anything. So I am not sure why, if it doesn't stop within a few days I would take her to the vet. I think that the separation could have something to do with it. It probably is making her feel depresed and upset. Poor baby But there is nothing you can really do unless you want an accidental litter!
