AW!! Congrats thats so cuteeee! I would call the ER and explain the problem. They are pretty good with telling people what is normal to expect. I wouldnt worry she just gave birth I bet its normal.

I would call the Pet ER place and explain and see what they say hope the outcome is ok!

Sharon: Not everyone wants an abused problemed dog from the shelter they want a puppy to raise. You cant stop people from having sex so how do you expect dogs to keep off. Shutup and get a life.

You might wanna really check the Momma Dog's stomach. . . this sounds like stool that is called meconium. This is the kind of stool that puppies have until they start nursing milk Puppies in stress can actually poop while still in the womb and though you think you have gotten all of the puppies that there were but in all reality you may have another puppy but with this kind of discharge from the mother, that pup may be in trouble.
Feel around on the Momma dog's stomach and see if you can feel another puppy. Don't be afraid to apply pressure to be able to feel everything. Last litter of puppies I helped with ,I really had to massage deep to find the last puppy who took longer to come in this world than the others did.
While massaging I often times thought I might be feeling stool in the intestines of the Momma dog but when I really felt really good I could tell that what I was feeling wasn't stool.
If you do have a puppy still in there, you really need to massage the Momma dog to encourage contractions to get that puppy out. Don't let that Momma Dog go alot longer IF you think you have a puppy in there and you can't get signs of labor going because if you haven't lost that puppy yet,you will. . . . . . CALL A VET.

If you are convinced that there isn't another puppy in there, you may be seeing poop left behind by one of your delivered puppies and it should resolve. If it continues for several days or starts to have a bad smell to it. . . see your vet.

If in 24 hrs she is still giving the green discharge, then be concerned. The first 24 is always different - each birth, not just dog to dog.
Mainly, let her body do what it does and take care of healing.
If the discharge is very strong and bad smelling, then you should be concerned.
If she lets you, run your hand across her abdomen, I had one that did that and then gave birth to one final one hours later. It didn't survive, but we didn't expect it to.

Normal vaginal discharge after parturition should be odorless and may be green, dark red-brown or bloody and may persist in small amounts for up to 8 weeks.

yes,my girl gve birth 3 weeks ago, make sure the green stuff doesn't have a foul smell, they will have very little bleeding, but for the next 3 to 4 weeks, she'll have some stuff come out of her, lets say maybe once a day about an amount smaller then a cheerios, and flat, the green may be from the after birth, did you count one placenta for every pup?

Make sure your girl is on puppy food, feed her 4 times a day you may have to double what her usual intake was before her pregnancy

My girl started eating my males food, and she has never touched his bowl of food,so I uppd her intake a bit more, have lots of water for her, she'll pant like crazy once she feeds the pups,I had water for her while she was nursing her pups

in between her meals I gave her a teaspoon of caned puppy food, she really needed it

Congrats on a great and healthy litter

Again make sure she didn't retain a placenta and make sure the green doesn't have a foul smell,it could just be whats dried on her volva, and every time she pee's she'll losen what has dried on her

if you are still concerned in the morning, take her to the vet and get a clean out shot for her

what breed is she?

It could be an infection. Call your vet and ask. I would say call your breeding mentor, but I seriously doubt you're that responsible.

Rina: Adding to the pet overpopulation problem isn't CUTE.

Yes that is normal. If the discharge all the suddenly turns a bright red, you need to get to the vet right away. Most dogs will have a discharge two three weeks after whelping. In a couple of days take the momma dog and babies to the vet for a check up.

It is normal for a mother dog to discharge some dark red blood and clear fluid after diving birth. However, the green stuff sounds suspicious. Like those before me, I'd recommend that you take her straight to the vet. If she has a vaginal infection you could lose both her and the puppies if there is no one to feed them. The puppies need her in the early days for the cholstrome in her milk.
Go straight to the vet now and if there is a problem he/she can give the mother dog an injection and/or antibiotics for the problem.
All the best with the mother and puppies. And yes, Rina is right - be responsible in finding the puppies homes. There are too many puppies and dogs put down each year because owners don't want to take responsibility for them. I'm sure your responsible though. Good Luck.
