Default Is it okay to give bones to dogs?

I have a Westiepoo (half Westland Terrier and half poodle) that is about 9 months old. Is it okay to give him bones like chicken bones or porkchop bones? I have heard that you aren't supposed to but I cant remember if that was for cats or dogs and I don't know the specifics. Thanks!
Last night I gave him a porkchop bone with some meat still left on it and he chewed it so much I was starting to worry about if it would hurt him but thatnks for the great info everybody! I had no idea that chicken bones would do that but I will have to research that some more to confirm. I had suspicions though.
He is teething too so he loves to have anything (and everything) to chew on.

Steak bones are OK.
Pork bones are OK, but too much can cause stomach discomfort.
Poultry bones are too small and can cause serious damage, so they're not a good idea.

No. You should not. I have a black lab. I try not to give him any sort of animal bones because of choking and digestion problems that might occur.

Beef and pork bones are okay for dogs, but not chicken or turkey bones.

Only raw poultry bones. Not cooked. Other bones are fine.

Raw, meaty bones are fine. That's part of a canid's natural diet. The bones are soft enough for them to chew and grind down.

Cooked bones never, ever, ever, ever, ever. They splinter when chewed. A sharp splinter can cause incredible damage, up to and including death, if it is ingested.

give bones raw, as the are not as brittle and can get stuck and cause splinters, or buy bones from a petshop

DO NOT GIVE HIM CHICKEN OR TURKEY BONES. That being said, larger bones he can't crush up and swallow are fine. The hollow bird bones can fracture and cut up his insides and get stuck. The dog will be happy for hours if you give him a nice bone with a bit of meat still stuck on it.

Chicken bones are fine as long as they are raw, soft and digestible For example :raw chicken necks and feet are good.

Cooked chicken bones (all cooked bones actually, but especially poultry bones) are NO-NO because they splinter into sharp shards.

non-bone chews:
- bully sticks
tendons
-salmon skin rolls
- moo tubes

Do not give any dog chicken bones! If you want to give your dog a bone to chew on, I suggest going to pet store and buying a bone.

your not supposed to give them chicken bones because they're brittle and can break easily and that could tear up its stomach lining.
