How do I give a dog medicine ?

I took my dog to the vet yesterday for teeth cleaning and because he needed a few extractions. When I went to pick him up the vet told me they took out ten teeth. Along with that they accidentally burned his lip somehow with one of their tools. I was given three different pills to give to him twice a day. He is normally really good with taking pills but I cannot get him to take them. I can barely get him to drink water because he is in so much pain. So I need a few ideas on how to get him to take the pills.

i crush them up and put them in a spoon with peanut butter, my dog loves it

his mouth, slide them down the side of his throat, one at a time, with your index finger. Offer him some water afterward. I'm so sorry he's in pain. Hope this helps. I've done it many times with my dogs.

If you pop them down the middle, there's opportunity for them to aspirate the meds., down the side of the throat keeps this from happening.
