Furminator question, grooming the cat and dog!?

I have a yellow lab and 4 cats. I got the medium furminator and Ive since used it on everyone. Its been 3 days and the cats are shedding and so is the dog. How often do I use the furminator and for how long each pet? They all love it!

I use the small one on my pekingese whenever she's looking bushy. My vet says you can use it everyday if you want. I think it works better on short-haired dogs, because it pulls a little too much on the long hair, so my pek is not a big fan of the furminator.

I love my furminator!
I have a husky-mix and we're getting into heavy shedding season now so I use it on her every 3 days or so. Other times of the year I can go about a week without having to use it on her.
And I've used it on the cats when they will sit still :)

A few times per week should do the job. I have the medium Furminator, too, for my (mutt) puppy.

Start at the top (near the neck and shoulders) and use short, swift motions.... slowly moving you way down the dog/cat's back. If you use long motions (ie. one stroke starting at neck and ending at tail), it won't remove nearly as much fur. Short strokes work best, and you don't need to press hard (you don't want to irritate the skin), just quick and short, then keep moving on down the rest of the body.
