I'm almost 14 and I really love animals and I really want to volunteer at a pet shelter. I heard you had to be at least 21 because the shelter doesn't want to be responsible if you get bitten by an animal, but some people say you have to be 12. How old do you have to be really?

Maybe it varies from state to state, but you must be 18 years old where I live. Since you have to sign a document saying you won't hold them liable, and you have to be a legal adult to do so.
