View Full Version : is a power glo 20 watt 18,000 kelvin light bulb good for planted aquariums?

i just bought one it seems like it helps the plants a bit you can see when the fish are on the top half of the tank it shows there colors well but when they go low it goes away is there a light that reaches that low thats good for plants and shows the colors of the fish real well i have a 30 gallon
it is 18,000 kelvin the box says so ....

No chance, the bulb has a kelvin rating of 18,000K, that will be emitting a fairly whitish-blue light. It will be more or less useless to plants which require something in the region of 4000-7000K for photosynthesis.
