long lasting fish???

i need a fish that will live for at least a month because my mom says if i can keep a fish alive for a month she will let me get a hamster.i need a long lasting fish not one of those goldfish that die in two days no matter what. it has to be cheap and i have to be able to get it at like walmart or a local belleville ontario petstore.any suggestion?

well you can get a 5 gallon tank for less then like 20 bucks then one REAL plant only one and gravel for 1 or 2 or 3 doller and fish beta food for 3 dollars and then a beta for im not sure how much but they are cheap.hope it helps!!!!!! i have many fishes!!!!
