So my best friend Duke is 6 years old. Not old but getting up there considering he is over 100LBS. I have litterally had him since he was born. I was a vet receptionist and his mommy died during a c section. I ended up taking him home with me. He slept in a shoe box on my bed with a hot water bottle to keep him warm. He was the only survivor. I fed him from a bottle every hour and a half. He didn't even have his eyes yet. Anyway he has had some issues with his hips so he is on glucosamine. But I have noticed him being a bit siffer than normal. He also sheds way more than he should and his coat looks dull. He has a regular vet but unless something is really wrong I'd rather try supplements or something like that first since I'm a single mom on a budget. He has had his teeth cleaned every year his whole life and is up to date on all shots. I brush and bath his regularly. Brushing three or more times a week and monthly baths with mild organic pet shampoo. He is also on high quality food from the vets office. Does anyone have any suggestions? I want him to stick around as long as possible. He has been with me through my marriage birth of my daughter, divorce and becoming an independant single mom. He is my friend, my family and I want to do everything possible to keep him in optimal health. Any siggestions would be wonderful!
He is a masstiff lab mix and I feed him an all natural dry food from the vet's office. I pay around $50.00 for a 20LBS bag wich he goes through in a month. I also keep it in a fresh lock container. Is raw food really the way to go? IS it insainly expensive?
