I know that you can give them 25mg diphenhydramine, such as Benadryl, but I was wondering if Zyrtec or a store brand that's active ingredient is Cetiriaine will do the same thing, since it's 10mg.

I would really really really suggest just calling your local vet and asking them. I know benadryl is okay to give dogs with allergies, but I wouldnt take the risk. Just call!

Zyrtek was actually tested on dogs (I HATE animal testing...)

Below I have a website that shows the results of a study done and a website where someone else asked the question, and other responded that they had given their pets zyrtek or a generic version.

Though most say you can give them up to 2 10mg tablets a day, I would suggest giving your dog 1/2 or 1/4 of that depending on weight. Zyrtek is made for people age 6+, so since pets are much smaller, I would say that after calling a local vet to try with a smaller dose or use childrens zyrtek.
