...health ins corporations? Could it be that they get gobs of money from health ins., pharmaceutical, hospital lobbies, etc., for protecting their profits, despite the increasingly unnaffordable cost to American citizens and businesses that will bankrupt the entire country if continued?

Call me naive, but I thought Congress was supposed to serve the "public" interest.
Voice Off: insurance companies and the health companies that have to deal with them create tons of beaurocracy: massive paperwork (some of which reform is going to deal with), authorizations from numerous companies with varied forms and requirements, advertising, overhead, huge CEO salaries, Wall Street profits, etc. all of which add little to actual healthcare. I think that Medicare, though it needs to be reformed, has a 3% admin. cost for paying people's doctors, etc., directly. Insurance companies have a 30% or so overhead.

I don't know why people call Obama's plan socialistic, as it still relies primarily on the private ins. industry. He's just trying to get more citizens adequately insured and bring the cost curve down.
