...he turns it down...? His Aunts friend is giving up a lab purbred female puppy that is potty trained and knows sit for free, due to the older dog not getting along with the puppy. I am currently unemployed and will not be starting my job until the end of this month, so I thought it would be perfect to adopt the dog, work with it until I start my job.
My fiance tells me all the time how he wants a dog, then when I tell him about this, he says no, I do not want a dog that is going to chew things up and ruin the furniture. I explained that the dog would be crated if we are not home or if we are cooking dinner, so nothing would happen.
Then he goes on to say I dont want a dog right now, but when I do want one I want it to be a pug or beagle, not a lab.
I have explained to him that if he wants that kind of dog that is fine, but I like the bigger dogs and I am going to get my own dog if it comes down to it.
He currently works 8-5pm and I will be working 3-11:30pm, so someone will be home with the dog part of the day. I told him if we were to take care of the lab at least it would show him the responsibility he would need to endure if he wants a puppy.
He has never had a dog in his life and I have always owned dogs, so living in a house without a pet is killing me.
Anything I can say or do that will change his mind? If I cannot get this dog, I am definately buying one from a shelter next spring, because I cannot handle the quietness in the house.

This lab would only be at my house temporarily. We are trying to find her a new home so the owner does not put her in a shelter.
ok so my fiance called me a few minutes ago and now wants to take the dog, he talked to his Aunt and the dog will be coming tomorrow. He says he wants to keep the dog and did not realize how well behaved she was.
Now I am even more confused than ever. First he says he wants a dog, then he doesnt want this one, now he is taking this one after he talked to his Aunt.
What is going on here?
