When I picked them up with the commotion of the dogs and the instructions to keep them clean I just paid the bill and left. Now I feel bad because I don't know if I was supposed to tip the guy. He did a hell of a job but I don't know the etiquette about tipping. I don't wanna seem cheap because I want him to groom them next time and I don't want him to think that.

Maybe next time you could tip double. I didn't tip when my dogs were done at the groomer. One was because I didn't really know who did it and two, I didn't know you were supposed to.

I now do my dogs myself.

That is his job!!! he gets paid at the end of the month!! if he doesnt do a good job you complain and tell them!! you should never be shy or think your cheap!! i pay so much for my dogs and hell i would never give a tip!!!

HUg!! Never tip unless the person does you a great favor!! or you need the person,,, now they need us customers!!

I tipped my groomer just twice, for taking us in on a whim when she was not scheduled. The reason they charge what they do is that is their rates. Period. Its what they are paid for. Why do you feel it necessary to tip someone for doing there job? They are supposed to do it, and do a good job, and that brings repeat customers and business because if your happy you tell others. I have never understood the whole tip business with anyone other than the waiters and waitresses, they are not paid a decent wage... however, groomers are... and the bigger the dog the more you pay. and if they manage to do 2 dogs an hour then thats a substantial amount of money.

Yes, I tip my dog's groomer. I am very happy with her service and she deserves it. Remember, a tip is a gratuity, so if you are happy with the service, you should tip accordingly. I'm a real *stickler* on this, as my Husband has been Professional Waiter all his life, all over the world. If it weren't for tips, we wouldn't be able to afford toilet paper, as he is paid the standard minimum wage of a food and beverage service person.....which just so happens to be $2.65. an hour in the US. We have lived quite well over our 35 year marriage. Just think, most dogs are at the groomer for an average of 4 hours. So, they do a lot of work for what they are paid and still have to purchase products and pay rent and utilities on their building.
