she was the only dog in the shelter who was not barking at all; she was quiet as a mouse! She was so very engaging, but quiet. Now that she is home with me (and has been for a year and half) she barks constantly at any noise that she hears outside the door. I live in an apartment, so I do not want her to disturb the neighbors. I also do not want her to think she has to protect me, I want her to feel safe here and know I am here to protect her. Does anyone have any good advice as to how to train a dog not to bark unless asked (such as when using the command speak)? I have tried various methods that I have seen online and on television, but nothing seems to work. I guess she thinks she is the Alpha and I am the Omega...lol? Thanks in advance for any serious answers.
