Today, Saturday June 27, 2009 in the afternoon, my husband Tony took our two golden retrievers to the Twinsburg Dog Park. At the dog park, a tall, husky white male with brown hair and short facial hair and two girls, a preteen (possible name like Madison) and a teen, both slender white, long sandy brown hair were throwing a squeeky ball for a dog named Oscar. Oscar is a border collie, mostly black with white chest. One of the girls threw Oscar's ball. Our dog Patch ran after the ball. Oscar attacked our dog Patch when Patch went after Oscar's squeeky ball. Tony pulled Patch away from Oscar and put his arm up to stop another attack from Oscar, then about two feet away from Tony. Oscar then repeatly bit Tony's wrist. Tony was kneeling on one knee at that point holding Patch. The man walked over collected his dog, looked at Tony's wrist and said that looks pretty bad. The man then walked past Tony picked up the squeeky ball, and left with the girls and the dog. He drove away in a dark burnt red-burgundy Durango type vehicle.
Tony felt faint and laid down, alone in the park with our dogs, bleeding slightly until he felt well enough to drive the dogs home, make a police report, go to Urgent Care, where he was sent to the ER. The ER discharged Tony after dx a dog bite/soft tissue damage only, no broken bones, no torn nerves or tendons apparant.
We must find the dog within the next two (2) days or Tony must report to the hospital for rabies treatment. I am forwarding this to everyone I know in Northern Ohio and asking them to forward it to every one who they know in Northern Ohio and so on. This dog and owner probably live in a SE suburb of Cleveland or NE suburb of Akron. They may have been to the Twinsburg Dog Park and/or Stow Dog Park previously and are known to someone who has been there, they may be known in their neighborhood. Someone in NE Ohio knows these people and this dog. Please help us find OSCAR and save Tony from possible painful treatment.
Oscar will not be harmed if this is the first time he's bitten someone, his records only checked to see if he has a rabies shot. If Oscar does not have a rabies shot, he'll only be quarantined for a period to see if he develops rabies.
Again, within the next two (2) days, please pass this to everyone you know in NE Ohio. Thank you for your help.
The hospital does not plan to do rebies tx. the doctor is only concerned about infection. (Apparantly rabies tx is not really very successful and IF this domestic dog has not had contact with a wild animal recently, rabies is not likely.) I would still feel a lot better if we could find Oscar. What if unbeknown to his oblivious owners, Oscar was bitten by a racoon the night before and this was Oscar's first symptom.) We are still looking for Oscar and peace of mind.
