This has been going on for a while, but we've only just recently realized it. My german shepherd is losing his fur. He's about four years old and I don't think this is normal. He's been itching on his hindquarters and we first thought it was just fleas. Then he started limping and just this morning we noticed that his fur is either falling out or he's ripping them out himself. I looked at his skin and it's raw, red and some of it is scabbed over. We applied medicine to it and he seemed in a lot of pain. It's all over his back end and spreading to his hind legs. Can anyone tell me what this is so I can know if it's something serious?
