Paxtyn (my cat) has started to pull out little tufts of hair while cleaning and preening himself. He does so with his mouth and it's usually on his front legs. He's not quite a year old, extremely tolerant of being held, very floppy in your arms, lovable, playful, smart.... He's very laid back, not scared of people or animals, goes outside on a leash because he's an indoor kitty.... He really does seem to be very balanced and i feel like i lucked out because he's so awesome! I mention these things because most people say he could be doing this because of stress and though that seems the most reasonable answer, he seems to me to be very well balanced so i do not wish to overlook anything rare/hard to diagnose. Yes he's been to the vet for it, he already has flea meds, up to date shots... I'm really looking for people that may have gone through the same thing and any advice they may have about their own personal experiences as to better guide my plans to help my own kitty cat! THANKS!
Thank you so much for your responses!
He does have a # of toys, those that were suggested (balls, fishing poles...) as well as a few tiny stuffed animal dog toys... And of course an everyday object such as a comb or scrunchy can become that days plaything. So when i say i don't think it's boredom that i'm fairly certain it's not stress, i say so only because we do play a quite a lot he plays even more by himself. (But now i know why he wont like one ball on tuesday but can't get enough of it wednesday! He's demanding rotation!) Recently we went from kitten to adult indoor cat food we happened to switch brands, so i couldn't say if that has worsened it or not BUT it seems to me that it's happening gradually from when it began 3 months ago, no decline or acceleration in the amount of tufts missing regarding any diet change. Seemingly anyhow..... However, I hadn't realized it until now, but i use to comb him DAILY before we started using flea meds! I'll try grooming him myself!TY!
I wish i could vote all four answers the best answer! Each one was different and helpful!! Thank you!!
