View Full Version : Can a female dog be mated with a son or vice versa?
The reason I am asking is because I purchased a full breed puppy a year and three months ago and all that litter came out healthy, even though the puppy was the result of inbreeding. Another person wants to breed her female with my male, which are not from the same litter. This person is offering me the female pick of the litter, but am not sure if I should or should not go for it since I plan to breed my dog with one of the female pups when she matures.

you should never breed that close together.. You want at least a 4 generation gap between inbreeding... it would be better if you could go outside of the family tree...

Yes, but don't do this often with family. You will cause inbreedings. My dog's were brothers and sisters and they mated. (Their idea!) The puppy's were very pretty and we had no problem selling them. Good Luck! :-)
