when one cat grooms another, who is dominant?
Usually neither.
I have never seen any relationship between dominance and grooming.
In fact, it is pretty rare to have a truly dominant cat. They are not like dogs in this way.
If there is even just a little bit of dominance, it will swing back and forth and doesn't stay constant.
I speak from experience with a total of 25 cats and as many as - well, I can't tell you exactly how many we've had at one time :-) but suffice to say we have had a few cats at one time.
