View Full Version : Doesn't it seem that the same type of dogs win in group shows?

I'm not saying that the same breed wins every time...but I've seen poodles win, Pekingese win, Scottish Deer Hounds win, and other similarly striking dogs. I understand that the more beautiful the dog, the more attractive it is to everyone, including the judge, but aren't dog shows supposed to be judging the dogs against the breed standard, not how pretty a poodle is in comparison to, say, an English Bull Terrier. Do you see what I mean? Why do I keep see the 'pretty' dogs win...it can't be that they are always the closest to their standard. That's just impossible.
I have nothing againist poodles and other 'pretty' dogs, by the by. I love all kinds of dogs. I'm just curious about this occurance.
Ok. I need to clarify. I don't mean just poodles. I was using them as an example for the attractive dogs that usually win.

Here is a list of westminster winners with a low occurrence of poodles.
