Pet Reptile question PLEASE ANSWER!?

My folks will not let me have a pet Reptile, because they think its cruel.
I've said to them I will look after it, and they just say It doesn't matter how big your tank is, its still not the rain forest, desert etc...
How do i convince my folks to let me have a Reptile?

Tell your parents that just you having a pet reptile doesnt stop everyone else, and its not like the reptile was taken from the forest, as far as the reptile knows a tank is the rain forest. all reptiles sold are bred in captivity, and bets are, the size tank you will probabally have for your reptile will most likely be bigger than it's ever lived in.
