He has a vet appointment tuesday (the soonest i could get him in) and he had his first round of puppy shots from the breeder but....Once again im worried. The second night Sawyer was here he vomitted in bed. I didn't think a whole lot of it. Just figured after the junk he had the weekend before his body was reacting to the real dog food. Well yesterday after drinking a bunch of a water and hard play he did it again. And then last night again. I am a bit worried. Also this morning he has a normal colored stool with what looked like a small amount of blood to it. It didn't have that parvo smell (I had a dog die from it as a kid so I know the smell). He also was very ribby when I got him Monday and after a week of good food you can no longer see them. He also is bright eyed, plays like any other puppy, and eat and drinks like any other greedy lab.
Could this just be a reaction to new food and enviroment? Or could it be something more serious? |

If that's the soonest you can get in start giving the pup Pedialyte in small amounts. Don't let him drink a lot at once. Sometimes when they drink a lot they will vomit. Use the unflavored so it will be easy on his tummy. Hope everything is ok with him.

if he's really that bad, give him puppy pedialyte if they sell it in stores.make sure he's resting and let him drink plenty of water.it's probably best not to give him any treats for a whole week.hope sawyer feels better!

Ultimately, a vet check is the best, JIC, BUT...
I got a new puppy a couple of weeks ago and she threw up everyday I had her for a week. She had even gone to the vet within that time frame, but they said just to keep an eye on her(it was white & foamy, not food) and it was probably stress from moving to a new place. I also changed her food, which stopped the vomiting, but she started having diarrhea for about 2 and a half weeks. They told me to put a tbsp of canned pure pumpking (not pie filling) to help firm up her poop (it took a few days, but it worked). She had some blood in her diarrhea once, but it was from having it so long. They ran all kinds of tests, but everything was negative. They said to give it another few days, because it was probably just her body trying to get used to her new food (and since the food was "better" quality it might be too rich). They suggested getting the adult version of the food and mix it half and half with the puppy food and that would help settle her stomach and diarrhea. All is fine now, and she has adjusted to her food and no more diarrhea or vomiting! |

In my opinion, blood in stool = automatic trip to the vet, with stool sample. Especially with a puppy.

Take a sample of his stool. call the vet back and tell her that he has blood in this stool.and that you need to get in there before tues. afternoon. Also there should be an emergency animal clinic in your area. They are all over the place. i would go to the ememgency clinic asap. Blood in the stool is a bad sign.

Well I would say that you do need to get him into a vet but I just got a pit puppy that is doing the same thing. We were at the vet yesterday and he is having a yellow stool with mucus and a SMALL amount of blood. He's is worms. He has hook, whip and round. My vet gave me a yellow medicine to give him as well as a pill. I am not sure if this is the same thing as your dog may have but just thought I would share my experience yesterday. If you give your vet a call there should be an emergency number you can contact them. Better safe than sorry! Good luck I hope it all works out for you and your little guy!
