If you have a horse stable near you they usually have plenty. I've found that the shelter is usually cheaper by the time you pay for shots and spay or neuter. They also guarantee the health.

Go on to Craigs List, post fliers saying your looking for a kitten. Most kittens are mistakes, adorable, but mistakes there for people just want to give them to a good home, usually very cheep, or even free! But if I were you go to a shelter. I got my Lil' baby cat from a shelter, she was abused, when the shelter brought her in, she had a large cut on the bottom of her belly, they were going to put her down. She's my miracle kitty. You would have never guesses she was abused. She never acts out, she's a little wild, but she's a kitten. Go to that link \/

First, my condolences on your loss. I know it is never easy.
Normally, the $160 you pay to a shelter covers the spay/netur, shots, medical, and chip implantation for a cat. I recently addopted and had to shell out $80 for her, but this is in Oklahoma. My other cat I adopted when he walked into my apartment and decided that he was going to stay. He cost me $320 in vet fees and $60 for the Chip. So it is really a matter of who you are going to pay, and how much you are going to pay. Still, can you really put a price on the love of a cat? |

Paying the shelter is inexpensive compared with adopting a "free" cat or kitten who has had nothing done.
I looked at your local Humane Society site and their fee includes a physical exam, spay or neuter, worming, a tag and collar, and 30 days of ShelterCare insurance. The $160.00 is a bargain! Not only that, you are saved having to make those initial vet trips. http://hsbv.boulderhumane.org/hsbv/go.asp?mode=adopt_cat_package They have some lovely cats and kittens there, I looked through them, but if you can't afford $160.00 how can you afford to get everything done on your own? I am sorry about your cat's suffering and death. |
