Costs for lab tests for cats?

My vet said that we needed to do two urine tests for my cat. One is a culture and the other is to measure the protein vs. the creatinine (sp) level. I was quoted $238 for both of these tests which I thought seemed high. Does this sound high or about right? Thanks!

I don't know where you live but in WI that is very high for urine tests! We just did those for our male and no where near that much

This may be about right. Does this include the office visit? All vets are different. But when my cats have had full blood and urine panels done it was about what you are quoted. Contact other vets for prices to compare.

It depends on where you live, and what type of place you are going to. For example, specialty animal hospitals are often more expensive than general vets. Also rural areas are general cheaper than cities. You may want to give a couple calls to compare. Its apple to oranges, but I paid about $100 for a full blood analysis at my vet, then $130 for the same test done again at a specialist. $238 sounds a bit steep to me, but may be spot on for that specific test.
