Can i put neosporin on my dogs neuturing incision?
he was neurtered last thursday
Amerz you rude poster, he already has an appt WAY BEFORE I CALLED. RUDE
It was red and swolen the day I picked him up, how can i tell if its just left over swolen or infected?
Amerz you are rude, first of all I would never do anything without checking with the doctor first. The reason I aksed here is that 1. I was curious and 2. IM AT WORK and I can not do outbound calls while waiting for the calls to come in.

Is that ok with you? Just because I typed a question on yahoo does not mean I am an irresponsible pet ownerr because I made his appt first thing this morning when I got up before I went to work.

YOU ARE RUDE because you made assumptions as to my reasons because you are probably the type to always see the negative.

If something is looking wrong with the incision then you need to have the vet take a look at it. Putting neosprion on on the incision may cause him to lick more and cause more dirt to stick causing an infection.

I wouldnt. There is no need to. If the incision it not red swollen and hot to the touch then leave it alone.
If you think it is infected then your vet should be called.

You should not have to is it red or swollen? If so then something is wrong and you need to take him back to the vet.

I used neosporin on my dogs neutering incision (stitches came out last Thursday and he healed up perfectly) when it looked a little pink. If it is looking inflamed or swollen, then I would call the vet, but if it just appears a little irritated, I think it is fine.

1. Phone your vet and ask what they recommend
2. Usually vets recommend letting the incision heal on its own without Neo/Polysporin
3. If he's licking his incision you could put an Elizabethan collar on him (those lampshade/cone collars).
4. Good job on getting your dog neutered
