>Can I legally keep a dog I think was abandoned at my house?
I was wondering if I could legally keep a dog that was left at my house.
A Friend of mine asked me to watch her dog while she finds a new place to live. She had mentioned that she really didnt want the dog anymore but wanted to wait till after her dog had her puppies so she could get some money out of it and then leave her dog at the pound. I told her I would watch her dog but ever since she left the dog with me I have not heard anything from her. She doesnt answer my calls or text messages and ignores me when I message her on myspace. We even go to church together and I havent seen her in weeks.
Could this be considered abandonment? and if so can I legally keep her dog and the puppies that are about to be born in a few days?
I would hate for her to find out her dog had the puppies and her show up all of a sudden just to make some money out of it
Angie: I know for a fact that she is ok and hasnt fallen ill or anything. I know of about 5 other people who have talked to her within the last few days and she answers their phone calls just fine but it seems as though she has a problem answering my calls.
and yes I did agree to talk care of the dog as long and brought me the dog food and stuff that ther dog likes. She never did. She said she would be by to see her dog every once in a while and she never has.
N T: I wouldnt be asking all this if I was planning on getting rid of the dog. Her dog, which is a cocker spaniel, came from the same litter as my dog and my dog loves having her around. I would love to keep her.
i would consider it abandonment because she isnt keeping in touch with you and you are taking care of the dog now so it is yours. I find it really disgusting that she or you would get rid of the dog after she gave birth just to get money from the puppies....sick (hope you wont do that)
just keep the dog and puppies. i'm not sure about legal issues (probably consult the police about it) but this woman doesnt sound like the greatest person ever
