...more. Is this OK? We rescued our pug a few months ago and have been trying IN VAIN to potty train her. Poor thing was kept outside most of the time before we got her and that may have something to do with her resistance to potty training. She is fed twice a day with the same food our 3 yr old pug eats. He has a very normal bathroom schedule, goes twice a day on his walks like clockwork. We keep potty pads in the laundry room for her to use when she decides to go before her walk and we have been able to monitor how many times she goes potty. She usually poops 5 or 6 average (not small) amounts on the pads and has been known to poop 2 or 3 times in ONE hour! During her walks she will sometimes poop but she usually just pees or sniffs. We've tried not giving her as long of opportunities to use her potty pads so she can get used to going only when we go outside but she'll just poop in her crate. She seems to be very healthy and at least she is going but I'm concerned about the amount. Is this normal?? Should we bite the $65 vet visit and take her for a check up? HELP!

A cheaper alternative would be going to the Humane Society and getting her checked out. They should be able to tell you what's going on and IF there's a problem.

Also, if there's a problem they can't handle, they will direct you to the right vet that can.

It sounds like something that may not be a problem.....but you should check it out anyway just to be on the safe side. Better safe then sorry.

I suggest you check from the shelter where you got her from before going to the vet. I don't think this is quite serious, unless the poop is watery as this may eventually cause dehydration. Check if this was how she used to poop. If not, ask on the kind of food that was fed to her.

As for her housetraining, maybe these links can help you out:
