Is a Golden Retriever a Good Family Dog?

I finally decided that a golden would be great for my family life style but i need to be 100% sure. Here is my lifestyle.

I Live on 3 acres of land
I have 2 children aged 8 and 13
Young kids sometimes visit us
Elderly people visit us
We have horses, a dog, a cat and a bird.
Cattle and sheep live nearby
Will be walked up to 3km (every day - every 2nd day)
Will be played with by the kids eg. tennis ball, football, throwing the stick etc.
When we are planning on leaving the house he will be taken to our neighbors were he can swim in the dam with 2 other dogs
Will be brushed daily and clipped when ever needed.
Will live inside with family
We have a average - large sized secure yard for him to run around when we cant walk him

If you think that a G R is not for our family please suggest a breed that is
Yes!! this is great!! I love goldens! I was thinking of rescueing one is this a good idea? i thought it would be good to save a little life! i preferably want a puppy G R so that me and the family can really bond with him and then i now how he has been raised and how socalized he is! yay this is so exciting!!
Thank you everyone for all your help!! I'm really starting to think that a golden is going to be our next friend!! Since im considering a puppy from a shelter i was wondering if this is a better choice then a breeder?
