Boxer in an apartment? Good idea or not?

This girl I work with has to get rid of her 6 month old boxer, not because it has done anything wrong, but because she is pregnant, her young daughter is afraid of it, and she no longer has the help she used to in taking care of it. She wants to make sure that it goes to a good home and me and my husband have been talking about getting a dog anyways. I'm just not sure how it will fare in an apartment. We are both active so taking out for walks and runs and to the park will be no problem but we do both work first shift. Our apartment is small and though we are trying to move here soon, it will be a few months. Any advice or opinions?
