Okay, so they were originally on Iams dry cat food and we wanted to switch them to a better dry food. Not to mention the corn in it was making the cats' poop smell awful. Anyways, lately we have started to switch them to a better cat food, one where meats are the first ingredients, and which is free of corn. Just mixing in the new food has made their feces smell much less. The problem is that now the old food makes them throw up! They are eating a mix of the two but sometimes they pick out the old food and eat it and when they do that it makes them vomit. When they eat just the new food or a mix of both they are fine (it doesn't upset their tummies). I am afraid if I take away the old food completely it would be too sudden a change (I only started with the new food a few days ago).

Is it okay to just give them the new food? I don't want to change foods to quickly but it obviously hasn't bothered them. And I am getting sick of cleaning up vomit.
"One thing to watch for is that if you are giving them completely dry food, it could be this which is causing the vomiting. Drop a nugget of dry food into some water and watch how it swells."
I did that with the Iams (old food) and it swelled up a LOT. The new food hardly did that at all. The cats drink a lot of water generally (they have a fountain water bowl, and they love it to pieces).

I am setting up a vet appointment, by the way, but I'd like to see if the vomiting stops before they have their physicals. I know not all cats necessarily NEED wet food to live but it does seem to be better because of it's higher protein content. Unfortunately, they hate wet food right now (they were dry food junkies when we got them). Our plan is to get them on a better dry food, and then see if we can get them to eat wet food.
