Earlier this week my cat had red eyes so I took her to the vet. The vet thought my cat had Conjunctivitis so I started her on eye drops. They weren't working so I took her back to the vet and she said my cat had a severe upper respiratory infection, my cat is now on a heavy duty antibiotic that I hope is working (It has only been 1 day). Her eyes turned blood red last night, which apparently is normal? Yes? It scared the crap out of me. And now they are back to normal color. But the discharge from her eyes is really goopy.
Today, the discharge from her eyes has been gluing her eyes shut. I help her by getting a sterile cotton ball and warm water and gently wiping her eyes until they , but now her skin is irritated and a little red. Will vaseline help? Is Neosporin safe? Is there another way to keep her eyes from gluing themselves shut?
