Default Does anyone have any kittens/yound cats for sale in lancashire?

My friend wants a ginger kitten for a friend as a wedding present, (it has to be ginger as she's always wanted a ginger one and has already picked its name). My other friend wants a kitten or young female cat no colour preferences. We live in Lancashire (burnley) but we cant find any anywhere, tried the local rspca but they dont seem to want to rehome their cats.
The shelter near me appear very reluctant to rehome. I have spoken to many people (whom I know look after their pets, I am a veterinary nurse) and the rspca shelter have been off hand with them. I can understand why but it seems only people that work can adopt the cats/dogs. The kitten will be loved and that prob wont come from the shelter but my other friend is happy with any cat.
Sorry meant people that dont work.

Try Petco. They have a bulliten board near their grooming center where people post adds. Many of them are people moving and they need to re-home their animals but don't want to drop them off at the shelter. It's good to check out and maybe you can post that you want one there. Keep going to the shelters too. It is the birthing season and some kittens may not be old enough to give away yet.

What do you mean, that they don't want to re-home their cats? Of course they do.

Rescues/shelters aren't fond of people wanting to adopt a cat ''as a present'', because there's no guarantee that the person who will receive the cat, will not end up returning the cat. Consider having that ''friend'' come with, when they do a search for the ginger cat. That way, the shelter/rescue will feel more re-assured, that the potential owner is actually interested in the cat.

Hi hun,

I totally understand your problem. The shelters are extremely over-cautious. My boyfriend and I got refused by 3 separate shelters because we both worked ....and, get this, because we would be keeping the cat indoors!! couldn't believe it! In a day and age where people are actually encouraged to keep cats indoors because of the safety issues, the RSPCA sort of looked at us as if we were very selfish! I was not impressed.

If the shelter route is not working for you, have you tried the ad papers around your area? This is how we had to resort to getting our kitten. Here's the trick:

There should be at least two different ad papers in your local newsagent. They often come out twice a week, sometimes more. Don't pick up a paper midweek - all the kittens will have been sold. Pick up a paper on the morning it is released, ring up and reserve one straight away. Kittens and cats are so popular and they seem to just fly out of the newspapers. The good news is that April is mating season, so there should be a lot around.

It took me 10 days of 'stalking' the newsagents (LOL!) until I found my kitten. I had been getting papers when they came out, but leaving it until I got home from work to ring up. So I rang up literally an hour after the one paper was put on the shelves, and reserved my kittie!

Also, try this website! There are recent kittens for sale!

Go to the shelter or Humane Society. Dont take someone else's word for it. Maybe they were not good enough to adopt, not everyone is right, but they are in the business of finding homes for animals, not turning you down just to break your heart.

the rspca are always wanting to rehouse cats but they dont do it willy nilly. its a big difference in looking after a cat and thinking you want to own a cat ginger or not. try and get your friends involved it may not be a surprise but its the responsible thing to do. cats can be a time consuming and expensive obligation. please dont buy your cat when their are so many that want a home for free.
