Can a Malay, a Javanese and a Sundanese understand each other?

Can a Malay, a Javanese and a Sundanese understand each other when they speak? How common (or different) are these three languages?

Nope, it's completely different. I'm javanese and i don't understand sundanese. But Javanese and Sundanese do speak indonesian/malay. So, they can't understand each other unless they use malay/indonesian when speaking.

Javanese and Sundanese people are both Indonesian, so both mostly can speak Indonesian.
Comparing Malay and Indonesian is like comparing American English to Shakesperean English.

I am a Malaysian of Javanese origin.
I speak both Malay & Javanese.
But i dont understand Sundanese at all.
These 3 languages are completely different.
