My cat got hit by a car and I'm away at college...what should I do?

On Sunday night my cat got hit by a car. He's spent the week at urgent care and the vets. He's been on IVs because he won't eat or drink or even move around. I'm away at college and can't go home. My mom is devastated (I am too) and she's been crying all week. I'm just trying to figure out what I can do/say to comfort her. Maybe a good quote? I feel absolutely terrible and don't know what to do.
