My goldfish died today morning.?

Thanks to all those who advised me. It had been leaning on it's head for a few days in the aquarium. Towards the end it was on it's back at the bottom of the tank. It's stomach was reddish blue and it's anus was reddish. It may have been constipated or may have even swallowed pebbles. We had two gold fish about the same age of two years. One gold fish died. I would like to get some other gold fish, so that the remaining one does not feel lonely. The only ones in the pet store are very small, and few weeks old. Should I take any precautions, or would these fish be able to adjust with each other? Thanks!
