Do you think the cat i saw was a stray cat?

Ok i have a cat of my own he was a stray and we basically adopted him and he stays indoors, so im familar with how cats usually act.Anyway i've been seeing a Cat for about a month..it usually walks around our front yard and then goes up towards a neighbor's drive way..the house itself is extremely far up a hill i can't even see it from my house.Yesterday i saw the cat on my yard and i was worried that it might be a stray or something so i went inside and took my cat's dry food and poured some for this "stray cat" and the cat quickly came up to it and started eating it....and then it was meowing and let me pet it...the fur was very clean and it seemed healthy (more on the leaner side) and after awhile it walked off and went towards my neighbor's drive way....basically im confused as to if this cat is actually owned by someone or if its a stray...usually stray cats are afraid of people..but i could be wrong.Today i went out around the same time i saw it yesterday and it was sitting at the end of my yard and it seemed like he was waiting for me...i was in a rush for a job interview so i couldnt go up to see it. But what do you guys think?? Im thinking i should call up the neighbor see if they even own a cat..but do you think this cat is a stray or owed by someone?yea i don't think will feed it again until i def find out if it belongs to someone.This cat has no collar...and unfortunately theres a lot of cats out there that have owners but their owners are too dumb to make them wear a collar. urgh!.
