  Question on aquarium water changes?
Hi! This might take a while to read, so please be patient. XD So, in my house, we have 3 bettas: Freddy, who kind of belongs to everyone, and then Link and Luno, who belong to me. So, the way my parents change Freddy's water is just to dump out all the old water and put in tap water and then conditioner, and then place the plant back in. When I decided I wanted fish, I did research and found all this stuff about keeping 25 percent to 50 percent of the water. So I did this once I got my fish (And they used to be in the same tank, but Link got into Luno's side and tore his bottom fin off, and we got a vase for him to go into very recently, so I haven't changed his water yet, and I've been doing this with Luno's tank), and I asked my parents about this and they even said that one of our neighbors does the same thing, just dumps out all the old water. I got a little worried that Freddy might die of shock like I kept reading, but the thing is, my neighbor's betta is still alive, and we've had Freddy for 2 and a half years! I'm starting to think it might be okay to dump out all the old water, because Links water is crystal clear all the time, but Lunos water is absolutely FILTHY all the time. It gets foggy, it has a crazy amount of things flying around in it when I clean it (Not all of it looks like poop....) and it smells terrible all the time. He doesn't mind it, but it looks really awkward when both of them are together and you see the difference. Can someone explain to me why my neighbors betta and Freddy are fine with the water changes and if it's probably okay to do this?
Luno is in a 5g tank, and Link is in a vase. But it's Luno I'm a bit more concerned about, but thank you for telling me that! I'll know how to clean Link's vase once it's ready.
Also, it's a 1.5 gallon vase.
